ياO ربِّmy Lord لاnot أقعI fall فيماinto what خجلِshame
يا ربِّ لا أقع فيما خجلِ
حذاءbefore ذيone with كثرmuch وذيand one with قلٍّlittle جليmanifest
حذاء ذي كثر وذي قلٍّ جلي
O my Lord, let me not fall into what brings shame,
O Lord, let me not fall into shame
in plain sight of those with much and those with little,
In the presence of the many or the few
لاnot سيماthe like of (together: especially) يومday المعادthe Return الأفضلِthe most excellent
لا سيما يوم المعاد الأفضلِ
فلاso let not يُرىbe seen فيهon it إلهيmy God خجليmy shame
فلا يُرى فيه إلهي خجلي
especially on the most excellent Day of Return,
Especially on the day of the best return
so let my shame not be seen on it, my God.
Where my shame before You, my God, is seen
وأكرمنيand honor me بكthrough You لاnot منfrom قِبَليmy side
وأكرمني بك لا من قِبَلي
منfrom قبلهbefore it وفيهand on it إكرامhonoring الوليthe friend of God
من قبله وفيه إكرام الولي
And honor me through You, not through myself,
Honor me through Yourself, not through me
before it and on it, as a friend of Yours is honored.
Through Him, and in Him lies the guardian's honor
ولتنْزلنّيand do lodge me منازلَstations العليthe exalted
ولتنْزلنّي منازلَ العلي
ولتسترنْand do conceal ولتغفرنَّand do forgive زلليmy missteps
ولتسترنْ ولتغفرنَّ زللي
And lodge me in the stations of the exalted.
And place me in the most high stations
And conceal and forgive my missteps.
And conceal and forgive my stumbles
ولْتُغنِنيand free me from need وللتَتَوَلَّand take charge ياO وليProtector
ولْتُغنِني وللتَتَوَلَّ يا ولي
ولتحفظنِّيand do protect me ربَّناour Lord منfrom عِلَلِailments
ولتحفظنِّي ربَّنا من عِلَلِ
And free me from need and take me into Your care, O Protector.
And enrich me, and take care of me O Guardian
And protect me, our Lord, from ailments.
And protect me, our Lord, from afflictions
ولتجعلنْand do make مقاميmy station أعلىhigher ياO عليMost High
ولتجعلنْ مقامي أعلى يا علي
دهريَmy lifetime منthan كلِّevery مقامٍstation معتليlofty
دهريَ من كلِّ مقامٍ معتلي
And make my station higher, O Most High,
And make my standing most high, O Exalted One
throughout my life, than every lofty station.
My life, elevated above every station
بجاهby the standing of أفضلthe best of الورىcreation النبيthe Prophet الجليthe illustrious
بجاه أفضل الورى النبي الجلي
صلِّbestow blessings وسلِّمَنَّand do grant peace عليهupon him وصِليand unite [me]
صلِّ وسلِّمَنَّ عليه وصِلي
By the standing of the best of creation, the illustrious Prophet,
By the grace of the best of creation, the brilliant Prophet
bestow blessings and peace upon him, and unite me [with him].
