له متوسلاً باسم العظيم

In all my needs, I shall petition the All-Generous,

I shall ask the Generous One concerning my needs,

entreating Him through the Name of the All-Magnificent.

Appealing to Him by the name of the Magnificent.

يرى ضعفي وفقري وافتقاري

يرى ضعفي وفقري وافتقاري

ويوصف بالرحيم وبالكريم

ويوصف بالرحيم وبالكريم

He sees my weakness, my poverty, and my need,

He sees my weakness, my poverty, and my need,

and is described as the All-Merciful, the All-Generous.

And is described as the Merciful and the Generous.

وليس سواه يملك للنقير

وليس سواه يملك للنقير

ولا القطمير مع صفة الحليم

ولا القطمير مع صفة الحليم

None besides Him possesses even the naqīr—the tiny groove in a date-stone—

None but He possesses even a date-stone's dimple,

nor the qiṭmīr—its thin membrane—together with the attribute “the All-Forbearing.”

Or its thin skin, while bearing the attribute of the Forbearing.

فأطلبه التفضُّلَ بالدوام

فأطلبه التفضُّلَ بالدوام

ويكسوني الغنى باسم العليم

ويكسوني الغنى باسم العليم

So I ask Him for favor everlasting,

So I ask Him for continual favor,

to clothe me in freedom from need through the Name of the All-Knowing,

And to clothe me in wealth by the name of the All-Knowing,

ويدفع شرَّ كلِّ الكون عني

ويدفع شرَّ كلِّ الكون عني

ويحكم كل مؤذ بالحكيم

ويحكم كل مؤذ بالحكيم

to repel from me the evil of the whole universe,

And to ward off from me the evil of all creation,

and to govern every mādh [unclear] through the All-Wise.

And to restrain every harmful being by the All-Wise.
