Among mankind but a deceitful hypocrite.
ألاَbehold كلُّevery ذِيpossessor of مُلْكٍsovereignty سِواكمother than you سَبَهْلَلُan aimless idler
ألاَ كلُّ ذِي مُلْكٍ سِواكم سَبَهْلَلُ
وكلand every مَديحٍpraise-poem غيرother than مدحىَmy praise ضائعُwasted
وكل مَديحٍ غير مدحىَ ضائعُ
Indeed, every sovereign besides you is of no account,
Behold: every ruler other than you is an aimless idler,
and every praise other than my praise is wasted.
And every praise-poem other than mine is wasted.
