There is no good in a person's haste, O my trusted friend,

When it is out of place—and this is a settled matter.

And likewise with slackness when it is out of place,

In every circumstance; this saying is clear.

If you do not put things in their proper places,

You act unjustly; the matter is serious, and caprice invites blame.

Thus a person's haste is invariably praised

When giving a gift, while delay is condemned.
