أسالمُ يا ابن مَوْدُودِى فإنِّي

أسالمُ يا ابن مَوْدُودِى فإنِّي

رأيتُ بوارقاً فيها رَوَاعِدْ

رأيتُ بوارقاً فيها رَوَاعِدْ

O Salim, son of Mawdudi, for I

Greetings, O son of Mawdudi, for I

Have seen flashes of lightning carrying thunder.

Have seen flashes in which foundations lie

وإنْ حَالَ البِعَادُ وطالَ هجرٌ

وإنْ حَالَ البِعَادُ وطالَ هجرٌ

فإنى لستُ عنكم بالمُباعِدْ

فإنى لستُ عنكم بالمُباعِدْ

And even if distance intervenes and separation lasts long,

And if separation becomes prolonged, and estrangement endures

I am not one to keep away from you.

I am not far removed from you

ولا تَعْرض عن الخِل المصافِى

ولا تَعْرض عن الخِل المصافِى

وإنى في اقترابٍ لا تباعُدْ

وإنى في اقترابٍ لا تباعُدْ

And do not turn away from the devoted friend,

Do not turn away from sincere affection

For I am drawing near, not drawing away.

For I am drawing near, no longer distant

ألم تَرَ أنني في كلِّ أمرٍ

ألم تَرَ أنني في كلِّ أمرٍ

ونائبةٍ لكم كفٌّ مساعِدْ

ونائبةٍ لكم كفٌّ مساعِدْ

Have you not seen that I, in every affair

Have you not seen that in every matter

And misfortune, am a helping hand to you?

And affliction, I am a helping hand to you

وَلستُ أشكُّ أنك ذُو وِداد

وَلستُ أشكُّ أنك ذُو وِداد

وأنك صادِق وافي المواعِدْ

وأنك صادِق وافي المواعِدْ

And I do not doubt that you bear affection,

And I do not doubt that you are loving

And that you are truthful, faithful to your promises.

And that you are truthful in keeping promises

فهذا السلام عليك مِنّي

فهذا السلام عليك مِنّي

مدَى المَلَوَيْن ما حنّتْ رَوَاعِدْ

مدَى المَلَوَيْن ما حنّتْ رَوَاعِدْ

So here is my greeting of peace to you,

So these are my greetings to you

Throughout night and day, as long as thunder resounds.

As long as the two firmaments revolve above their pillars

وصلِّى ربَّنا ما لاحَ بَرْقٌ

وصلِّى ربَّنا ما لاحَ بَرْقٌ

عَلَى خَير الورَى مُرْسى القواعِدْ

عَلَى خَير الورَى مُرْسى القواعِدْ

And, our Lord, send blessings whenever lightning flashes,

And may our Lord pray, as long as lightning flashes

Upon the best of creation, who set the foundations firm.

Upon the best of mankind, anchor of foundations

وإني لستُ أَخْلُفكم بوَعْدٍ

وإني لستُ أَخْلُفكم بوَعْدٍ

وإنّك ذُو وفاءِ بالمواعِدْ

وإنّك ذُو وفاءِ بالمواعِدْ

And I do not break a promise to you,

And I will not break a promise to you

And you are faithful to your promises.

For you are faithful in keeping pacts
