لقد آنَ أنْ توفَي العهودُ السوالفُ

لقد آنَ أنْ توفَي العهودُ السوالفُ

لمنعهم موعودٌ ويأمن خائفُ

لمنعهم موعودٌ ويأمن خائفُ

It is indeed time for the old pledges to be fulfilled.

The oaths of old have come to pass

For restraining them, something is promised [wording unclear]; and the fearful one finds safety.

Forbearance for them, and security for those in fear

فأوفِ بوعدٍ سالفٍ كان بيننا

فأوفِ بوعدٍ سالفٍ كان بيننا

فإبقاؤُه للبَرْحِ والهم كاشفُ

فإبقاؤُه للبَرْحِ والهم كاشفُ

So fulfil an earlier promise that was between us,

So fulfill the oath that was between us

For keeping it dispels anguish and worry.

Keeping it removes distress and worry

ومثلُك لا ينسَى وإن طالت المَدى

ومثلُك لا ينسَى وإن طالت المَدى

ولا ينكرُ الشىءَ الذي هو عارفُ

ولا ينكرُ الشىءَ الذي هو عارفُ

And one like you does not forget, though time stretches long,

And one like you does not forget, though time be long

Nor does he deny a thing he knows.

Nor denies what he knows full well

أذكرك العهدَ الذي كانَ بيننَا

أذكرك العهدَ الذي كانَ بيننَا

وإنْ كنتَ لم تنسَ الذي أنا واصِفُ

وإنْ كنتَ لم تنسَ الذي أنا واصِفُ

I remind you of the pledge that was between us,

I remind you of the pact between us

Even though you have not forgotten what I describe.

Though you've not forgot what I describe

ومن عجبي أنِّي أعرِّفُك الوفا

ومن عجبي أنِّي أعرِّفُك الوفا

وأنت بحمدِ اللهِ بالحال عارفُ

وأنت بحمدِ اللهِ بالحال عارفُ

And it astonishes me that I explain faithfulness to you,

And strangely I acquaint you with loyalty

While you, praise be to God, know the situation.

While you, praise God, know it full well

فأوفِ وبادر واعلُ واشرفْ وقل وعِد

فأوفِ وبادر واعلُ واشرفْ وقل وعِد

ومرْ واسترحْ وارفُقْ وبئس المخالفُ

ومرْ واسترحْ وارفُقْ وبئس المخالفُ

So fulfil your pledge, hasten, rise high, be noble, speak, and promise,

So fulfill, take initiative, rise up, ennoble, promise, pass

And command, rest, and be gentle; and wretched is the one who opposes.

Go, take comfort, have mercy - miserable is he who reneges
