وسلِّم إلى ربِّ العُلا وتوكَّلن

وسلِّم إلى ربِّ العُلا وتوكَّلن

عليه وصاحبْ خير خِلً مُصاحِبِ

عليه وصاحبْ خير خِلً مُصاحِبِ

And surrender to the Lord of the heights, and put your trust

Submit yourself to the Lord of the High Throne, and rely

in Him, and keep the best of friends as your companion.

Upon Him, and befriend the best companion.

ولا تطلبنْ إلا من اللّه حاجةً

ولا تطلبنْ إلا من اللّه حاجةً

ولا شك أن اللّهَ معْ كل طالِبِ

ولا شك أن اللّهَ معْ كل طالِبِ

And ask none but God for what you need.

Do not seek anything except from Allah what you desire,

And there is no doubt that God is with every seeker.

And no doubt that Allah is with every seeker.

ولا تتركنَّ البحث عنه فإنه

ولا تتركنَّ البحث عنه فإنه

لكل فتىً يحويه خير المكاسِبِ

لكل فتىً يحويه خير المكاسِبِ

And never abandon the search for it, for it is

Do not stop seeking Him, for He

the best of gains for every young man who possesses it.

Contains the best gains for every young man.

وذاكِرْ به مَن كان بالله عارِفاً

وذاكِرْ به مَن كان بالله عارِفاً

فذلك للمعروفِ غير مُجانِبِ

فذلك للمعروفِ غير مُجانِبِ

And discuss it with one who knows God,

And remember therein whoever knew Allah,

for such a man is not averse to goodness.

For that is proper for the benevolent, not shirking.

وجانِبْ لأهل البَغْيِ والجهل والخَنَا

وجانِبْ لأهل البَغْيِ والجهل والخَنَا

وكن طالباً في العلم أعلى المراتبِ

وكن طالباً في العلم أعلى المراتبِ

And shun those given to oppression, ignorance, and foul speech.

And avoid the people of tyranny, ignorance and betrayal,

And seek the highest ranks in knowledge.

And seek to be the highest in knowledge and ranks.

وكن صامِتاً في كل نادٍ ومجلس

وكن صامِتاً في كل نادٍ ومجلس

وكن ناطِقاً بالحق في كل واجبِ

وكن ناطِقاً بالحق في كل واجبِ

And be silent in every gathering and assembly,

And be silent in every gathering and council,

and speak the truth whenever duty requires it.

And speak the truth in every duty.

ولا تُبديَنَّ الضحك في كل لفظةٍ

ولا تُبديَنَّ الضحك في كل لفظةٍ

ولكن قليلا في الأمورِ العَجائبِ

ولكن قليلا في الأمورِ العَجائبِ

And do not laugh at every utterance,

Do not show laughter in every phrase,

but only a little at astonishing things.

But little, in wondrous matters.

ولا تك مِهذاراً قليل تفكُّرٍ

ولا تك مِهذاراً قليل تفكُّرٍ

فليس عليك النُّطقُ ضربةُ لازِبِ

فليس عليك النُّطقُ ضربةُ لازِبِ

And do not be a chatterbox who seldom reflects,

And be not foolish, little reflecting,

for you are under no binding obligation to speak.

For it is not yours to speak randomly.

ومهما بَدَتْ من صاحِبٍ لك زَلَّةٌ

ومهما بَدَتْ من صاحِبٍ لك زَلَّةٌ

فقابل بصفحٍ منك زلّةَ صاحِبِ

فقابل بصفحٍ منك زلّةَ صاحِبِ

And whenever a friend of yours makes a misstep,

And whatever mistakes show from a companion of yours,

then meet your friend's misstep with forgiveness.

Meet them with forgiveness from you, the mistakes of a companion.

ولا تفعلَنْ فِعلاً بغير مَشورةٍ

ولا تفعلَنْ فِعلاً بغير مَشورةٍ

من السيد المولى كريم المناسبِ

من السيد المولى كريم المناسبِ

And take no action without counsel

And do not do a deed without consultation

from the lord and master of noble lineage.

From the Master, Lord of Beneficence.

ولا تَعصِ في كل أمرٍ يريدُه

ولا تَعصِ في كل أمرٍ يريدُه

فطاعته فَرْضٌ على كل كاسبِ

فطاعته فَرْضٌ على كل كاسبِ

And do not disobey him in anything he wishes,

And do not disobey Him in anything He wants,

for obedience to him is a duty upon every earner.

For obeying Him is an obligation on every earner.
