وكم من فتى يسعى ويحرم دائبا

وكم من فتى يسعى ويحرم دائبا

وآخر يؤتى رزقه وهو عاجز

How many a youth strives tirelessly, only to be denied,

And how many a young man strives tirelessly, yet is deprived,

while another’s provision comes to him though he is helpless.

وربتما نال الكرامة ألكنٌ

وربتما نال الكرامة ألكنٌ

وأُخِّرَ عن نيل المطالب راجز

وأُخِّرَ عن نيل المطالب راجز

And often a tongue-tied man attains honor,

And often an inarticulate man has gained honor,

while a poet of rajaz is held back from attaining his aims.
