سأصْبرُI will endure صبراًwith patience لاnot يشاكلهmatches it صبرُpatience
وحتىand until يقولَsay الناسُthe people قلبيmy heart لهit has قبرُa grave
I will endure with a patience no patience can match,
I will have patience like no other's patience
And until people say that my heart has a grave.
Until people say my heart has become a grave
سأصبرُI will endure صبراًwith patience صبرpatience أيوبَJob دونَهis beneath it
ولاand not أظهرُI reveal الشكوىcomplaint ولوand even if مَسَّنيtouches me الضرُّaffliction
I will endure with a patience that surpasses Job’s,
I will have patience, beyond Job's patience
Nor will I voice complaint, even if affliction touches me.
I will not complain, even if misfortune strikes me
وإنand if قيلَit is said إنthat الصبرَpatience يضنىwears one down فإننىthen I
أطيقُI can bear الضنىexhaustion فيin الصبرpatience ماas long as دامremains بيin me عُمْرُlife
And if it is said that patience wears one down, then I
And if it's said that patience brings misery
Can bear exhaustion in patience as long as life remains in me.
I can endure misery as long as I live
وإنand if كنتُI am فيat بعضsome الأحايينtimes أشتكىI complain
فلاso there is no بدescape للمصدورِfor one afflicted in the chest منfrom نفثةٍan exhalation تعْرُوcomes upon one
And if at certain times I complain,
And if I complain at times
For one with an ailing chest cannot help but let out a sigh.
The troubled must vent somehow
فماfor no اشتدgrew difficult أمرٌmatter أوor تعذرَproved unattainable نازحٌsomething distant
علىfor طالبٍa seeker إلاexcept وفرَّجهُand relieved it الصبرُpatience
For no matter ever grew hard, nor any distant goal proved elusive
No matter how hard things got for the seeker
To a seeker, without patience bringing relief.
Patience always brings relief
فإنso if لمnot أجدْI find فيin الصبرِpatience نفعاًbenefit لحاضرfor the present
عسَىperhaps فيin ذُرَىheights العقبىthe hereafter لىَfor me الفوزُtriumph والذُّخْرُand stored treasure
So if I find no benefit in patience for the present,
If patience brings no benefit for the present
Perhaps, in the heights of the hereafter, triumph and treasure will be mine.
Perhaps the future holds triumph and riches
فلاso do not تعجباmarvel, you two مِنّيat me فذلكfor that ديدنىmy habit
وكلٌّand everyone لهhe has طبْعٌa temperament يصرِّفُهsways it أمْرُa circumstance
So do not marvel at me, you two; that is my habit.
So do not be surprised, such is my way
And each has a temperament that circumstance sways.
Each has a nature that rules their affairs
