ياO هَرِمَHarim اِبنَson of الأَكرَمينَthe noblest مَنصِباin lineage
يا هَرِمَ اِبنَ الأَكرَمينَ مَنصِبا
إِنَّكَindeed you قَدcertainly وَليتَhave undertaken حُكماًan arbitration مُعجِباremarkable
إِنَّكَ قَد وَليتَ حُكماً مُعجِبا
O Harim, son of the noblest in lineage,
O pyramid, son of the most noble fathers appointed
You have indeed undertaken a remarkable arbitration.
Indeed, you have assumed an astonishing rule
فَاِحكُمso judge وَصَوِّبand affirm رَأيَthe opinion of مَنwhoever تَصَوَّباwas right
فَاِحكُم وَصَوِّب رَأيَ مَن تَصَوَّبا
إِنَّindeed الَّذيthe one who يَعلوrises عَلَيهاabove it تُرتُباfirmly established
إِنَّ الَّذي يَعلو عَلَيها تُرتُبا
So judge, and affirm the opinion of whoever is right.
So rule, and correct the opinion of those who have erred
Indeed, he who stands firmly above it
Indeed, he who ascends over it is built up
لَخَيرُناsurely the best of us عَمّاًin paternal uncle وَأُمّاًand in mother وَأَباand in father
لَخَيرُنا عَمّاً وَأُمّاً وَأَبا
وَعامِرٌand Amir خَيرُهُماthe better of the two مُرَكَّباin ancestral stock
وَعامِرٌ خَيرُهُما مُرَكَّبا
Is surely the best of us in paternal uncle, mother, and father.
He is better for us as an uncle, mother, and father
And Amir is the better of the two in ancestral stock,
And the best of both of them brought together
وَعامِرٌand Amir أَدنىnearer لَقَيسٍto Qays نَسَباin descent
وَعامِرٌ أَدنى لَقَيسٍ نَسَبا
And Amir is nearer to Qays in descent.
And the lowest of Qais in lineage brought together
