We have come to you, O best of all creation,

that you may have mercy on us for the hardship we have endured.

We have come to you while the virgin’s breast bleeds,

and the boy’s mother has grown oblivious to the infant.

And the brave man has abandoned proclaiming his battle-name, humbled

by hunger, silent, saying neither bitter words nor sweet.

And we have nothing of what people eat,

save year-old blood-and-hair fare and worthless narcissus.

    وَأَينَ يَفِرُّ الناسُ إِلّا إِلى الرُسلِ

    And we have no refuge but flight to you;

and where do people flee except to the messengers?

So if you pray for rain and pardon, rain will be sent by the

sky to us, and the matter will remain as it was.
