Have you not heard, O ʿAbd, in the radiance of morning,
Haven't you heard, O slave, in the morning's splendor
the weeping of doves, with their cooing?
The weeping of doves with their cooing murmur?
بَكَينَthey (feminine) wept فَهَيّجنَso they stirred اِشتِياقيmy longing وَلوعَتيand my burning anguish

They wept, stirring my longing and my burning anguish,
Their crying aroused my yearning and agony
though ages have passed since the time of our meeting.
Though ages have passed since we last met.
