Leave us, daughter of al-Kaʿbī, to glory and eminence,
Let us leave the daughter of Ka'b and glory and elevation
and tend a tawny herd of wild cattle in Medina.
And a shepherd of camels in Medina, as I suppose,
أَبوكَyour father الذِيwho لَمّاwhen أَتىcame to مَرجَMarj (meadow) راهِطٍRāhiṭ

Your father is he who, when he came to Marj Rāhiṭ,
Your father, when he came to a troop of riders
while they had mustered for evil among those who banded together,
Who had prepared for evil against whoever prepared,
تَشَنَّأَshowed hostility للأَعدَاءِtoward the enemies حَتّىuntil إِذاwhen اِنتَهواthey submitted

showed hostility to his enemies until, when they submitted
Bared his teeth to the enemies until when they ended
to his command, willingly or unwillingly, he endeared himself to them.
Up to his command, willingly and unwillingly befriended.
