He is a he-goat in baseness, and if he sees a lapse in vigilance
He is the billy-goat, vicious when he sees inattention
in a neighbor or one of his companions, he is a wolf.
From a neighbor or some of the companions, then he gores.

When al-Bakrī praises himself in your presence,
When al-Bakri praises himself in your presence,
then say: al-Bakrī has lied, and he is a habitual liar.
Say, "Al-Bakri lied, for he is a liar."

There would be nothing wrong with al-Bazwāʾ as a land, if only it
No harm in open spaces, if only they
were cleansed of their traces and thus became pleasant.
Could be cleansed of their traces and thus grow fragrant.
