تُنَفِّضyou shake out بُرْدَيَthe two cloaks of أمِّUmm (mother of) عوفʿAwf ولمand have not تطِرflown
تُنَفِّض بُرْدَيَ أمِّ عوف ولم تطِر
لناtoward us بارقBāriq بخbravo! (sarcastic) للوعيدfor the threat وللرَّهبِand for the terror
لنا بارق بخ للوعيد وللرَّهبِ
You shake Umm ʿAwf’s two cloaks, yet have not flown
You shake the garments of Umm 'Auf, yet no lightning flashed for us,
toward us, Bāriq—bravo for the threat and the terror!
No sign of threat nor cause for fear.
