لو قيل للجود من حليفك ما

إن كان إلا إليك ينتسبُ

إن كان إلا إليك ينتسبُ

Were generosity asked, 'Who is your ally?' it would not

If generosity were asked, "Who is your companion?"

Claim kinship with anyone but you.

It would say, "None but you it claims as kin."

أنت أخوه وأنت صورته

أنت أخوه وأنت صورته

والرأس منه وغيرك الذنبُ

والرأس منه وغيرك الذنبُ

You are its brother, and you are its image,

You are its brother, its image;

And its head; others are the tail.

The head is from it, others merely the tail.

احرزتَ فضل النضال في مَهَل

احرزتَ فضل النضال في مَهَل

فكل يوم بكفك القَصَبُ

فكل يوم بكفك القَصَبُ

You have gained supremacy in the archery contest at leisure;

You have secured excellence in struggle

So every day the reed of victory is in your palm.

So each day by your palm the staff is struck.

لو أن كعباً وحاتماً نُشرا

لو أن كعباً وحاتماً نُشرا

كانا جميعاً من بعض ما تهب

كانا جميعاً من بعض ما تهب

Were Kaʿb and Ḥātim brought back to life,

If Ka'b and Hatim were to spread out,

Together, they would be but a part of what you bestow.

All together they'd be but a part of your gift.

لا تخلف الوعد إن وعدت ولا

لا تخلف الوعد إن وعدت ولا

خلفك للراغبين منقلب

خلفك للراغبين منقلب

You do not break your promise when you make it, nor

Do not fail your promise if you have promised,

Is there anywhere beyond you for petitioners to turn.

Behind you the hopeful will not turn back.
