مآشير ما كان الرخاء حُسَافةُ
إذاwhen الحربwar سماهاnamed it صُرامَṢurām, an epithet for war الملقِّبُthe epithet-giver
إذا الحرب سماها صُرامَ الملقِّبُ
Insolent revelers while prosperity lasts, mere chaff
My friend, prosperity was never free from peril
when the epithet-giver calls war Ṣurām.
