فإن تُصغِ تكفأه العداة اناءنا

وتسمعْ لنا أقوال أعدائنا تَخَلْ

وتسمعْ لنا أقوال أعدائنا تَخَلْ

For if you lend an ear, the enemies will overturn our vessel;

If you listen to our enemies speak ill,

and if you hear our enemies’ words about us, you will suppose...

And give ear to the words of those against us, beware -
