يفوت ذوي المفاقر أسهلاه

من القناص بالغدر العتولِ

Its two easiest gaits outstrip the needy

among the hunters, across harsh, treacherous ground.

وذات أسمين والألوان شتى

تُحمَّق وهي كيسة الحويلِ

And one with two names, whose colors are varied,

is deemed foolish, though she is clever at stratagems.

لها خِبَ تلوذ به وليست

بضائعة الجنين ولا مذول

She has a secret refuge to turn to, and is not

neglectful of what she conceals, nor a revealer of secrets.
