هل من بكى الدار راجٍ أن تحَسَّ له
أوor يبكيَmight make weep الدارَthe dwelling ماءُwater العبرةِof tears الخَضِلُmoist
أو يبكيَ الدارَ ماءُ العبرةِ الخَضِلُ
Does one who weeps for the dwelling hope that it will feel for him,
Is there anyone who wept for a house, hoping it would have pity on him,
Or that the moist water of tears will make the dwelling weep?
Or did the house weep tears of sorrow for him?
