بأوبط من كيد الفراشة والجُعَلْ

And Isma‘il and Mundhir rallied in it,

Bring Ismael in it and Munthir

With a scheme feebler than the moth’s and the dung beetle’s,

With more cunning than the guile of butterflies and ants

ليستبعيا كلباً بهيماً مُخزَّماً

ليستبعيا كلباً بهيماً مُخزَّماً

من يك أفيالاً ابوته يَفِلْ

من يك أفيالاً ابوته يَفِلْ

So the two might borrow a solid-black dog with a pierced nose.

To hunt down a fierce, vicious hound

Whoever has fools for forefathers will himself be foolish.

Whose tusks can rip elephants apart
