يؤلف بين ضفدعة وضبٍّ

ويعجب أن نَبَرَّ بني أبينا

ويعجب أن نَبَرَّ بني أبينا

He brings a frog and a spiny-tailed lizard together,

He composes between a frog and hyena

And marvels that we show kindness to our father's sons.

And wonders why we bellow among our fathers

وعطفت الضباب أكف قوم

وعطفت الضباب أكف قوم

على فُتخ الضفادع مرئمينا

على فُتخ الضفادع مرئمينا

And the hands of a people turned the spiny-tailed lizards

The mists bent the palms of a people

Toward the broad-footed frogs, coaxing them into affection.
