إِنّي أَتاني عَنِ اِبنَي مَعمَرٍ خَبَرٌ

إِنّي أَتاني عَنِ اِبنَي مَعمَرٍ خَبَرٌ

إِمّا كَذَبتُ وَإِمّا غَيرُ مَكذوبِ

إِمّا كَذَبتُ وَإِمّا غَيرُ مَكذوبِ

Indeed, a report has reached me about the two sons of Maʿmar—

Either I have lied, or the report is not false—

الشاتِمِيَّ وَلَم أَحلُل حَرامَهُما

الشاتِمِيَّ وَلَم أَحلُل حَرامَهُما

إِنّي كَذَلِكَ لَقّاءُ الأَعاجيبِ

إِنّي كَذَلِكَ لَقّاءُ الأَعاجيبِ

The two who revile me, though I have not violated what is sacred to them both.

Indeed, I often encounter marvels like these.
