We resented their being offered a paltry share,

because of an intertwined bond of kinship kept intact.

For I am a man of Banu ʿĀmir,

and you are a hunting decoy—a male mountain goat.

The young she-goats urinate on his nose,

as did the long-foreskinned wearer of the cowrie shell.
