أَبلِغtell عَلِيّاًʿAlī أَطالَmay prolong اللَهُGod ذُلَّهُمُtheir humiliation
أَنَّthat البُكَيرَthe little camel الَّذيwhich أَسعَواthey drove onward بِهِwith it هَمَلُa stray
Tell ʿAlī—may God prolong their humiliation—
Tell Ali - may God prolong his humiliation -
that the little camel they drove off is a stray.
That al-Bukayr whom they pinned their hopes upon has failed.
السِلمُpeace سِلمٌpeace وَلاand not يَنفَكُّcomes apart ضِغثُهُمُtheir bundle

Peace is peace, and their bundle will not unravel
Peace is peace and will not cease their anger,
until a man once slaughters our young camel.
Or a single time, make one of our young men fall.
إِذاwhen أَجارواthey granted refuge عَوىhowled فيin بَيتِthe house of جارِهِمُtheir protégé

When they granted refuge, howling sounded in their protégé's house:
When they give refuge in their neighbor's home,
either Ḥirāb or his like were killed.
It's either war or death for them like before.
كَمhow many مِنof عَقيدٍa sworn ally وَجارٍand a protégé حَلَّlodged عِندَهُمُwith them

How many sworn allies and protégés who lodged among them,
How many dear guests have stayed in their homes,
and men sheltered under God's covenant, they have killed!
And neighbors they've killed, breaking their vows before God.
