لمَّاwhen رقصتyou danced عَلَىupon المنصَّةthe stage بدعةa marvel; a novelty
لمَّا رقصت عَلَى المنصَّة بدعة
فأتيتand so you came بالإبداعwith creativity والإغرابِand wonder
فأتيت بالإبداع والإغرابِ
When you danced upon the stage, a marvel,
When you danced on stage with novelty
You brought forth creativity and wonder.
You brought creativity and strangeness
عكسواthey projected عليكupon you الكهرباءَelectric light ملوناًcolored
عكسوا عليك الكهرباءَ ملوناً
كوميضlike a flash برقlightning أَوor كلمحlike a glimpse سرابa mirage
كوميض برق أَو كلمح سراب
They cast colored electric light upon you,
They reflected colored electricity on you
Like a lightning flash or a glimpse of a mirage.
Like the flicker of lightning or a mirage
فوضىa riot منof الألوانcolors يأْخذtakes hold مزجهاtheir mingling
فوضى من الألوان يأْخذ مزجها
بمجامعof the entirety of الأبصارthe eyes والأَلبابand the minds
بمجامع الأبصار والأَلباب
A riot of colors whose mingling takes hold
A chaos of colors which captivates
Of every eye and mind.
Eyes and minds with its blend
رُدِّيتyou were robed منfrom تلكthose الأشعةrays حلةًa robe
رُدِّيت من تلك الأشعة حلةً
فضفاضةample; loose-fitting الأردانthe sleeves والأهدابand the fringes
فضفاضة الأردان والأهداب
You were clad in a robe of those rays,
You were clothed by those rays
With ample sleeves and fringes.
In a loose robe and drape
وَبديتand you appeared منfrom تحتbeneath الأشعةthe rays فيin الدُّجىthe darkness
وَبديت من تحت الأشعة في الدُّجى
شمساًa sun قدalready اتَّشحتhad draped itself بقوسin a bow of سحابclouds
شمساً قد اتَّشحت بقوس سحاب
And beneath the rays, in the darkness, you appeared
And you appeared under the rays in the gloom
As a sun that had draped itself in a rainbow.
