ما كنت أَعلم أنَّ الشوقَ يبلغ بي

ما قد تلاشى لديه الصبرُ والجلدُ

ما قد تلاشى لديه الصبرُ والجلدُ

I did not know that longing would bring me

I did not know that longing would make me

to a point where patience and fortitude have vanished.

Lose all patience and composure

فاذكرْ فتاك كذكراه لعهدِكمُ

فاذكرْ فتاك كذكراه لعهدِكمُ

عسى تخفف عنه بعضَ ما يجدُ

عسى تخفف عنه بعضَ ما يجدُ

So remember your young man as he remembers your covenant;

So remember your youth as you remember your past

perhaps you will ease some of what he feels.

Perhaps it will ease some of his distress
