"يا مزمعَ السَّيرِ بُلِّغْتَ المنى؛ مهلاً"
يؤَدِّmay pay حَقّاًa due منof التَّوديعِfarewell قَلبانِtwo hearts
يؤَدِّ حَقّاً من التَّوديعِ قَلبانِ
O you resolved to depart—may you attain your wishes—wait a little,
so that two hearts may pay farewell its due.
زَوَّدْتُكَI provisioned you with الرُّوحَthe soul ذكرىa keepsake الوُدِّlove إِذْwhen أَزَفتْdrew near
زَوَّدْتُكَ الرُّوحَ ذكرى الوُدِّ إِذْ أَزَفتْ
ساعاتُthe hours of سيرِكَyour departure فَاقْبَلْso accept رَسمَthe remnant of جُثمانيmy body
ساعاتُ سيرِكَ فَاقْبَلْ رَسمَ جُثماني
I gave you my soul as provision, a keepsake of love, as there drew near
the hours of your departure; so accept the remnant of my body.
