By God, al-Zahra did not know what longing for you filled
By God, Zahra does not know what grief for you
my heart; she neither reproached nor blamed.
Lies in my heart - she did not blame nor did she chide

أليس تشفق أنْ بوعدت عنكِ عَلى
زغبِdowny الحواصلِthe crops of birds أنْlest يبقينthey remain باليتمِin orphanhood
زغبِ الحواصلِ أنْ يبقين باليتمِ
Does she not fear, if I am kept far from you, for
Does she not fear that if I'm parted from you
the downy-cropped fledglings, lest they remain orphaned?
