لهفيmy grief عليهfor him شهاباًa meteor كانwas مؤتلفاًin harmony
لهفي عليه شهاباً كان مؤتلفاً
هوىhe fell فأخطاthen missed مكانَthe place of الرحيمِthe Merciful فاحترقاand he burned
هوى فأخطا مكانَ الرحيمِ فاحترقا
Alas for him—a meteor that once was in harmony!
My yearning for him was a shooting star, once composed
He fell, missed the Merciful's abode, and burned.
It fell in love, but missed the merciful's place, so it burned
تقبَّلmay accept اللهُGod قرباناًan offering جرىflowed دمُهhis blood
تقبَّل اللهُ قرباناً جرى دمُه
عَلَىupon الثَّرىthe earth فتراءَىthen appeared فيin السماthe sky شفقاa red twilight glow
عَلَى الثَّرى فتراءَى في السما شفقا
May God accept an offering whose blood flowed
May God accept the sacrifice whose blood flowed
Upon the earth, then appeared in the sky as twilight's red glow.
On the ground, it appeared as dusk in the sky
