برَّاقةًgleaming منfrom شمسِهِits sun وَغمامِهِand its clouds
And a lush grove—spring has woven its robes,
The spring wove its coolness with a brilliance
Gleaming, from its sunshine and clouds.
From its sun and its clouds.

Its fragrance grows richer with the blossoms' breath;
Its blossoming is purified by the breath of flowers,
How sweet the breath of pure wine in its goblet!
Oh, the sweet scent of nectar in its cup!

And all of it ripples as the breeze passes,
It all sways with the gentle breeze
Like water, with the wind flowing over its brimming surface.
Like water flowing above its waves.

And the flowers—some open-eyed, some with eyes shut—
The flowers partly opened and partly closed
How lovely they are, awake and asleep!
Are most beautiful awake and asleep.

Spring shook some of its colors over them,
The spring sprinkled its colors over them
As though, when they fluttered, they were among its banners.
As if waving its banners aloft.

And birds sing, and butterflies flutter,
The birds sing and the butterflies flutter
Merrily and playfully to the birds' melodies.
Playing and frolicking to its tunes.

The sun peers through the clouds
Yet it is like the moon in its fullness.
Like a crescent moon at its fullness.

As though they were tangled fragments of its dreams.
Like dreams' nonsense.

Until you appeared, and were lovelier to behold
Until you rose, the loveliest rising
Than smiling blossoms within their sheaths.
With your smiling face from its veil.

So you drew me away from all that I loved—
You distracted me from all I loved
Spring's forms, its fragrance, and its speech.
Of the spring's scenes, scent and words.

You lit the spark of poetry in me and I kindled
Your eyes the magic of its eloquence and verse.
From your eyes its magic and rhythm.

And poetry captivates the mind if it is
Poetry is tempted by the forbidden when describing
A portrayal of beauty and is inspired by it.
Beauty and is inspired.
