لَكَ في المَعالي الآن مَطلَعُ عِزَّةِ

لَكَ في المَعالي الآن مَطلَعُ عِزَّةِ

وَمِنَ المَفيضِ السَعدِ منبعُ نِعمَةِ

وَمِنَ المَفيضِ السَعدِ منبعُ نِعمَةِ

Yours now, in the heights of honor, is a dawning of glory.

You now have the heights of glory in view

And from the bestower of good fortune comes a wellspring of blessing.

And from the blessed overflow, a spring of bounty.

لا زِلتَ تَظفُرُ بِالسَعادَةِ بِالِغاً

لا زِلتَ تَظفُرُ بِالسَعادَةِ بِالِغاً

أَوجَ المَراتِبِ رافِلاً بِالبَهجَةِ

أَوجَ المَراتِبِ رافِلاً بِالبَهجَةِ

May you ever win happiness, reaching

You continue to attain happiness supremely

the summit of ranks, robed in joy.

At the highest of ranks, abounding in delight.

فَقَد اِتَّضَعَتَ عَلى الوَداعَةِ سالِكاً

فَقَد اِتَّضَعَتَ عَلى الوَداعَةِ سالِكاً

فَصَعدتَ مُرتَقياً لا شَرَفِ رُتبَةِ

فَصَعدتَ مُرتَقياً لا شَرَفِ رُتبَةِ

For you humbled yourself, walking the path of gentleness,

You walked the path of humility

and so you rose, ascending to the noblest rank.

And ascended, climbing to the most noble station.

أَحسَنتَ سَعيَكَ بِالصَداقَةِ وَالهُدى

أَحسَنتَ سَعيَكَ بِالصَداقَةِ وَالهُدى

فَظَفَرتَ في إِحسانِ أَعظَمِ دَولَةِ

فَظَفَرتَ في إِحسانِ أَعظَمِ دَولَةِ

You pursued your endeavors well, through friendship and guidance,

You did your work well with friendship and guidance

and thus gained the favor of the greatest state.

So you won, in benevolence, the greatest state.

فيكَ اِنطَوى اللُطفُ الخَفيُّ مُحجَّباً

فيكَ اِنطَوى اللُطفُ الخَفيُّ مُحجَّباً

فَظَهَرتَ لِلعَليا بِأَعظَمِ حِلَّة

فَظَهَرتَ لِلعَليا بِأَعظَمِ حِلَّة

Within you, hidden grace lay folded and veiled,

In you, latent grace lay hidden

so you appeared in exalted station, in the grandest robe.

So you rose to the highest with the greatest finery.

شَيَّدتَ لِلوَطنِ العَزيز مَفاخِراً

شَيَّدتَ لِلوَطنِ العَزيز مَفاخِراً

وَاِمتَزتَ بِالإِفضالِ بَينَ المِلَّةِ

وَاِمتَزتَ بِالإِفضالِ بَينَ المِلَّةِ

You built glories for the cherished homeland,

For your beloved homeland, you built glories

and distinguished yourself through generosity among the community.

And excelled in generosity among the nation.

لَكَ في رُبى الشَهباءِ ذِكرٌ دائِمٌ

لَكَ في رُبى الشَهباءِ ذِكرٌ دائِمٌ

مِنهُ يَفوحُ الطَيبُ كُلُ عَشيَةِ

مِنهُ يَفوحُ الطَيبُ كُلُ عَشيَةِ

On the hills of al-Shahba (Aleppo), your memory endures,

In the abode of Damascus, your memory is eternal

and from it fragrance wafts every evening.

From it, sweet fragrance exhales each evening.

وَمَآثِرٌ في اللاذِقِية جَمَّةٌ

وَمَآثِرٌ في اللاذِقِية جَمَّةٌ

يَثنى عَلَيكَ بِها بِأَخلَص نَيَّةٍ

يَثنى عَلَيكَ بِها بِأَخلَص نَيَّةٍ

And many illustrious deeds are yours in Latakia,

And in Latakia, your splendid deeds are many

for which you are praised with the sincerest intent.

For which you are praised with utmost sincerity.

وَعَلى عُلى لُبنان فَضلٌ شامِخٌ

وَعَلى عُلى لُبنان فَضلٌ شامِخٌ

فَوقَ الشَوامِخِ مُعلِنٌ بِالمنَّةِ

فَوقَ الشَوامِخِ مُعلِنٌ بِالمنَّةِ

And upon Lebanon's heights, your merit towers

And atop lofty Lebanon, you have outstanding merit

above the towering peaks, proclaiming your bounty.

Above the loftiest, proclaiming blessing.

وَبِأُفقِ بَيروتٍ شُعاعَكَ قَد سَما

وَبِأُفقِ بَيروتٍ شُعاعَكَ قَد سَما

يَجلو العُيونَ يَزيلُ كُلُ دَجنَّةِ

يَجلو العُيونَ يَزيلُ كُلُ دَجنَّةِ

And over Beirut's horizon, your ray has risen,

And on Beirut's horizon, your brilliance has risen

brightening the eyes and dispelling every gloom.

Lighting up eyes, dispelling all gloom.

فيها اِبنَتَ مِن المَحامِدِ ما اِقتَضى

فيها اِبنَتَ مِن المَحامِدِ ما اِقتَضى

تَخليدَ ذِكرِكَ في قُلوبِ الأُمَّةِ

تَخليدَ ذِكرِكَ في قُلوبِ الأُمَّةِ

There you displayed such praiseworthy deeds as called for

There, you built praiseworthy things as required

your memory to live forever in the hearts of the nation.

To immortalize your memory in people's hearts.

إِن كُنتَ تَرحَل بِالسَعادَةِ وَالسَنى

إِن كُنتَ تَرحَل بِالسَعادَةِ وَالسَنى

فَبَنا لِبُعد ضِياكَ أَعظَمُ حرقَةِ

فَبَنا لِبُعد ضِياكَ أَعظَمُ حرقَةِ

If you depart with happiness and radiance,

If you depart in fortune and joy

then your light's distance fills us with the fiercest burning grief.

For us, your absence causes utmost torment.

لَكَ في مَقامِكَ بَهجَةٌ وَتَنعُّمٌ

لَكَ في مَقامِكَ بَهجَةٌ وَتَنعُّمٌ

وَعَلى خَليلكَ حَسرَةٌ في حَسرَةِ

وَعَلى خَليلكَ حَسرَةٌ في حَسرَةِ

In your station, joy and ease are yours,

For you, in your place, there is bliss and luxury

while your Khalil bears sorrow upon sorrow.

And for your friend, sorrow upon sorrow.

قَد قامَ ما بَينَ المَسَرَّةِ وَالأَسى

قَد قامَ ما بَينَ المَسَرَّةِ وَالأَسى

يَشكو وَيَشكُر حامِداً لِلقُدرَةِ

يَشكو وَيَشكُر حامِداً لِلقُدرَةِ

He has stood between delight and sorrow,

What arose between gladness and grief

lamenting and giving thanks, praising divine power.

Complains and gives thanks, praising the divine decree.

لَما راءَكَ مَليكَنا ذا هِمَّةٍ

لَما راءَكَ مَليكَنا ذا هِمَّةٍ

تَشفي الفُؤاد بِكَشفِ كُلِّ ملَّمةِ

تَشفي الفُؤاد بِكَشفِ كُلِّ ملَّمةِ

When our sovereign saw you possessed of resolve

When our king saw you as a man of resolve

that heals the heart by lifting every calamity,

Who could comfort hearts by resolving each dilemma,

وَلّاكَ في القُدسِ الشَريف مُعظَّماً

وَلّاكَ في القُدسِ الشَريف مُعظَّماً

يا كَعبَةَ الفَضلِ الحَميدِ الشهرَةِ

يا كَعبَةَ الفَضلِ الحَميدِ الشهرَةِ

he appointed you in Jerusalem the Noble, with high honor,

He appointed you in noble Jerusalem held dear

O Kaaba of virtue, of praiseworthy renown!

O epitome of praised and famed virtue!

وَغَدا يُنادي بِالعِباد مُؤَرِّخاً

وَغَدا يُنادي بِالعِباد مُؤَرِّخاً

أَنا حارِسُ الحَرَمِ المَنيعِ بِعزَّةِ

أَنا حارِسُ الحَرَمِ المَنيعِ بِعزَّةِ

And he began calling out to the people, marking the date:

And now the servants proclaim throughout

"I am the guardian of the impregnable sanctuary, with might."

I am guardian of the invincible sanctuary, with might!
