وَداعُكَ في القُلوبِ لَهُ اِتِقادُ

وَداعُكَ في القُلوبِ لَهُ اِتِقادُ

وَحُبَّكَ في سَرائِرِها اِعتِقادُ

وَحُبَّكَ في سَرائِرِها اِعتِقادُ

Your farewell burns within hearts,

Your farewell in hearts has kindling

And love for you is a creed in their innermost depths.

And your love in their secrets, belief

فَأَنتَ عَلى العِبادِ أَفَضتَ خَيراً

فَأَنتَ عَلى العِبادِ أَفَضتَ خَيراً

فَهامَت في مَحبتكَ العِبادُ

فَهامَت في مَحبتكَ العِبادُ

For you have showered the people with goodness,

So you have bestowed good upon the servants

So the people became enraptured with love for you.

And for your love, the servants have become enraptured

جَميلَكَ في البِلادِ لَهُ إِذدِكارٌ

جَميلَكَ في البِلادِ لَهُ إِذدِكارٌ

جَميلٌ لَيسَ تَنساهُ البِلادُ

جَميلٌ لَيسَ تَنساهُ البِلادُ

Your kindness has a remembrance in the land,

Your beauty in the countries has remembrance

A beautiful remembrance the land does not forget.

Beautiful, not forgotten by the countries

أَياديكَ الَّتي عَظمت عَلَيها

أَياديكَ الَّتي عَظمت عَلَيها

بِأَحرُفِ شُكرِها اِنتَقَشَ الجَمادُ

بِأَحرُفِ شُكرِها اِنتَقَشَ الجَمادُ

Your favors, which were so great upon the land—

Your hands which have been magnified over them

Lifeless things were engraved with letters of its gratitude.

With the letters of its gratitude, the inanimate came to life

إِلي رُشدٍ نَسَبتَ وَأَنتَ مَولىً

إِلي رُشدٍ نَسَبتَ وَأَنتَ مَولىً

لِنورِكَ في العُلى اِنتَسَبَ الرَشادُ

لِنورِكَ في العُلى اِنتَسَبَ الرَشادُ

You are linked to right guidance, and you are a patron;

Towards righteousness you have related, and you are its patron

Right guidance traces its lineage to your light on high.

For your light at the highest, guidance has affiliation

شَمَلتَ الكُلُ بِالإِحسان لُطفاً

شَمَلتَ الكُلُ بِالإِحسان لُطفاً

وَأَنتَ لِكُلُ مَكرُمَةٍ عِمادُ

وَأَنتَ لِكُلُ مَكرُمَةٍ عِمادُ

You embraced everyone with gracious benevolence,

You have encompassed all with kindness and gentleness

And you are the pillar of every noble deed.

And for every glory, you are the pillar

إِلى دار السَعادَةِ قُمتَ تَسعى

إِلى دار السَعادَةِ قُمتَ تَسعى

فَقُلتُ لِصحبَتي بانَت سُعادُ

فَقُلتُ لِصحبَتي بانَت سُعادُ

You set out for the Abode of Happiness,

Towards the abode of happiness you have striven

So I told my companions, “Su‘ad has departed.”

So I said to my companions, happiness has appeared

بِعالي أُفقِها تَجلوكَ بَدراً

بِعالي أُفقِها تَجلوكَ بَدراً

يسرُّ بِيمن مَطلَعِهِ الفُؤادُ

يسرُّ بِيمن مَطلَعِهِ الفُؤادُ

High on its horizon, it reveals you as a full moon,

With its high horizons it makes you shine like a full moon

Gladdening the heart with its auspicious rising.

Gladdening with its right ascent, the hearts

لَكَ الاسعادُ في المَسرى رَفيقٌ

لَكَ الاسعادُ في المَسرى رَفيقٌ

تُصاحِبُ فَيضُهُ وَالشُكرُ زادُ

تُصاحِبُ فَيضُهُ وَالشُكرُ زادُ

Good fortune is your companion on the night journey;

For you is happiness in the journey, a companion

You travel with its flowing bounty, and gratitude is your provision.

Its outpouring accompanies it, and thankfulness is provision

فَعُد بِاليَمَن لِلعَليا مُنيراً

فَعُد بِاليَمَن لِلعَليا مُنيراً

عَلى الدُنيا فَقَد حسن المَعادُ

عَلى الدُنيا فَقَد حسن المَعادُ

So return with good fortune, shining for glory

Return with blessings to the Most High, illuminated

Upon the world, for fair is the homecoming.

Over the world, for the final abode has beautified

وَلا تَنسى خَليلَ عُلاكَ عَبداً

وَلا تَنسى خَليلَ عُلاكَ عَبداً

يقيدهُ التَعَلُقُ وَالوِدادُ

يقيدهُ التَعَلُقُ وَالوِدادُ

And do not forget Khalil, a servant of your eminence,

And do not forget your intimate servant, your slave

Whom attachment and affection bind.
