    لِلمَلك رُكناً لِلبِلاد عِمادا

    Return, O Fuad, as the heart of noble pursuits,

    a pillar for the king, a mainstay for the land;

    like the sun, which, after traveling through the heights,

    completes its return to the lofty celestial mansion.

    This is the happy day, for it

    has given us joys and good fortune.

    عَمَت فَأَطرَبَت الجَمادَ فَمادا

    Joy overflowed upon all creation that day;

    it spread everywhere, enrapturing lifeless matter until it swayed.

    You had been held in reserve for every calamity,

    then you arose, brandishing blades against adversity.

    And the peerless jewel, whose existence is rare,

    is always a resource for whoever possesses it.

    So dispel the darkness of difficulties with a thought

    that has filled humankind’s minds with sound judgment.

    And repel the obstinacy of the unruly with a resolve:

    if it clashed with time’s vicissitudes, they would surely perish.

    You are the one who, through your guidance and sound judgment,

    and your striving, eradicated corruption and thus prevailed.

    You are the one around whom the sons of the notables gathered,

    and the whole universe cried out in praise of you.

    You are the one: words about you, when they spread,

    become reins for the actions of kings.

    قَد طَوَقَت بِجَميلَكَ الأَجيادا

    Yours, upon the brow of the age, is the greatest benefaction;

    it has encircled necks with your kindness.

    The glances of your eye revive hearts, if you wish,

    and if you desire, they shake the great mountains.

    May God grant our king victory, for his kindness

    in internal affairs has revived the livers.

    He revived its landmarks, just as, with his Fuad,

    he gave generously to Foreign Affairs—I recorded its date.
