أَلا أَيُّها المَولى الجَليل لَكَ الهَنا

أَلا أَيُّها المَولى الجَليل لَكَ الهَنا

بِما نِلتَهُ لا زِلتَ تُبدي الفَضائِلا

بِما نِلتَهُ لا زِلتَ تُبدي الفَضائِلا

Lo, O illustrious lord, joy be yours

O exalted Master, to You be praise

For what you have attained; may you never cease displaying virtues.

For the virtues You constantly display

رَأكَ مَليكُ الكَون تَحيي عَبيدُهُ

رَأكَ مَليكُ الكَون تَحيي عَبيدُهُ

وَتَجذُب بِاللُطف الخَفيّ القبائِلا

وَتَجذُب بِاللُطف الخَفيّ القبائِلا

The King of the universe saw you giving life to his servants

The Ruler of the universe saw You give life to His servants

And drawing the tribes through subtle kindness.

And attract the distant tribes with Your subtle kindness

فَأَبقاكَ في أَقطار بَيروت حاكِماً

فَأَبقاكَ في أَقطار بَيروت حاكِماً

تَبين الهُدى وَالحَقَّ لِلخَلقِ عادِلا

تَبين الهُدى وَالحَقَّ لِلخَلقِ عادِلا

So he kept you as governor in the regions of Beirut,

Thus He kept You in the regions of Beirut as a ruler

Making guidance and truth clear to the people, acting justly.

To elucidate guidance and justice to people with equity

وَوَلاكَ لُطفاً فَوقَ ذَلِكَ مَنصِباً

وَوَلاكَ لُطفاً فَوقَ ذَلِكَ مَنصِباً

تَفضُّ بِسَيف الرَأي فيهِ المَشاكِلا

تَفضُّ بِسَيف الرَأي فيهِ المَشاكِلا

And graciously appointed you, beyond that, to an office

And furthermore entrusted You due to His grace with a position

Where you resolve difficulties with the sword of judgment.

To unravel problems with the sword of reason

فَقالَ العُلى ذا البُدرُ لَقَد جَلا

فَقالَ العُلى ذا البُدرُ لَقَد جَلا

بِآفاقِ سوريا السِياسة كامِلا

بِآفاقِ سوريا السِياسة كامِلا

Then glory said: 'This full moon has indeed shone

The Most High, the full moon said: Verily he shone

Across Syria's political horizons, in its fullness.'
