Your plantings have smiled, revealing tomorrow's first fruits,
Your sprouts have brought glad tidings of tomorrow's first fruits,
And the first signs of guidance have appeared to those who seek it.
And the first signs of guidance for the rightly-guided have appeared.

To attain the highest goals, let him be made new!

You have been just, O light of guidance, and with wisdom
You have kindled the flame of your ardent resolve.
You have kindled the flame of your resolute determination.

Yours is the loveliest portrait in the book of the age,
In the book of the age you have the most radiant image -
It has endured; nothing but virtue is made immortal.
It is immortalized, for merit alone endures.

How many favors your people owe you! Not even
How many hands you have among your people that cannot
Kissing your hand, were it allowed, could thank you enough.
Adequately express their gratitude, even if allowed to kiss your hand!

The times have known the few and the many of them -
Have lain beyond its hearing or its sight.
What is beyond seeing or hearing.

One of them alone suffices you pride that we stop
Among them the building of this institute.
To lay the foundations of this institute.

God's blessing is the unity of our women
While men are like scattered quicksilver.
While men are scattered like quicksilver.

They have woven necklaces like the patterns of their unity,
Their husbands sundered little fingers never linked.
While their husbands have torn apart girdles never to be tied again.

This is no occasion for fault-finding, though
This is no place for rebuttal when
A critic's tongue may call people toward what is best.
A slanderous tongue calls to virtue.

Give glad tidings of it to the age of advancement, for it
The more noble deeds it asks of this union, the more it gains.
Only gains in glories whenever it advances.

Their sisters among the uncultured throng.

The riddlers of the hearts of those who love virtue
With virtue, not with a straightened spear or an Indian sword;
Through merit, not the pretentious and affected.

They competed with the vigorous youths, and attained what
They reach; knowledge is the most generous watering-place.
They sought, and gratitude is a smooth meadow.

Excellent is this emulation, and just are the pursuits,

For it is the path to the heights and everlasting commendation.
