مَنْwho مِثْلُlike مَكْرَمَMakram فِيin تَفَوُّقِهِhis excellence إِذَاwhen
مَنْ مِثْلُ مَكْرَمَ فِي تَفَوُّقِهِ إِذَا
رَجَحَoutweighed الكَلامَthe speech لَدَىin the judgment of العُقُولِminds كَلامُspeech
رَجَحَ الكَلامَ لَدَى العُقُولِ كَلامُ
Who rivals Makram in his excellence, when
Who is like Makram in his superiority when
one utterance outweighs another in the judgment of minds?
His words weigh more than minds can comprehend?
مَاnot السَّيْلُthe torrent أَسْرَعُswifter مِنْthan خَوَاطِرِهِhis thoughts سِوَىexcept
مَا السَّيْلُ أَسْرَعُ مِنْ خَوَاطِرِهِ سِوَى
أَنَّthat الهَدِيرَthe roar وَقَدْand indeed جَرَتْflowed أَنْغَامُmelodies
أَنَّ الهَدِيرَ وَقَدْ جَرَتْ أَنْغَامُ
The torrent is no swifter than his thoughts, save
No torrent flows faster than his thoughts do, though
that their roar, as they flow, is melody.
The roar flows on as tunes pour forth and blend.
مُتَوَقِّدٌblazing فَطِناًkeen-witted سَبُوقٌforemost هِمَّةًresolve
مُتَوَقِّدٌ فَطِناً سَبُوقٌ هِمَّةً
مُتَبَصِّرٌdiscerning مُتَهَوِّرٌreckless مِقْدَامُbold
مُتَبَصِّرٌ مُتَهَوِّرٌ مِقْدَامُ
Blazing with wit, foremost in resolve;
Keen-witted, swift to act, ambitious-souled,
Discerning, reckless, bold.
Far-sighted, daring, valiant to the end.
