فَدَعَتْ هَدِيَّتهُ ثنَائِي
The prince was generous with his catch.
The prince returned with his hunt
And his gift called forth my praise.
His gift invited my praise
يَاO طِيبَهُنَّtheir loveliness حَمَائِمَاًdoves

عَلَّمَتْنِي حُسْنَ الوَفَاءِ
How lovely they are, those doves!
"You gentle doves, so tame and true
They taught me the beauty of faithfulness.
Have taught me faithfulness anew."
آوَيتُهُنَّI sheltered them إلىinto الحَشَاthe bosom

فَمَلأْنَ رَأْسِي بِالغِنَاءِ
I sheltered them within my bosom.
In the garden I gave them rest
And they filled my head with song.
And they filled my head with song.
