انْفَرَطَcame apart العِقْدُthe necklace وَيَاand oh حُسْنَهُits beauty
حَبَّاتُهُits beads تَجْرِيflow كَقِطْرِlike drops of النَّدَىdew
The necklace has come apart—and oh, how lovely it is!
The necklace is undone, yet what beauty
Its beads flow like drops of dew.
Its beads trickling like drops of dew
لاَmay not انْفَرَطَcome apart العِقْدُthe necklace الَّذِيthat ضَمَّكُمْunited you
وَلَيْكُand let it be ذَاكَthat العِقْدُthe necklace نِعْمَhow excellent الفِدَىthe ransom
May the necklace that united you never come apart.
The necklace binding you is not undone
And let that necklace be a fine ransom.
That necklace is indeed priceless
أَمَّاas for الَّتِيshe who قَلَّدَهُadorned it جِيدُهَاher neck
وَحَبَّذَاand how lovely الجِّيدُthe neck وَمَاand what قُلِّدَاwas adorned
As for her whose neck adorned it—
As for her who wore it around her neck
And how lovely the neck and what was adorned!
And the neck extolled what it was adorned with
لَوِif أَنَّthat شَيْئاًsomething زَائِلاًfading حُسْنُهُits beauty
خُلِّدَwere made immortal كَانَwould have been العِقْدُthe necklace قَدْalready خُلِدَاimmortalized
If something whose beauty fades
If something fleeting yet beautiful
Were made immortal, the necklace would have been immortalized.
Could be made eternal, the necklace would have been eternalized
