The flags fluttered for the rise of your face,
And the notables walked, surrounding your retinue.
And marched surrounding your caravan.

For God through you, for the country and the sublime,
This loyalty and that homage!
This loyalty and that honor.

A state that deepens your tenderness and gentleness;
A state that increases your softness and farewell,
Indeed, the great are great in soul.
The bones are indeed the souls of the noble.

O Sa'd of fortunes, rise over Egypt, and may it never depart
O Saad Al Saud, emerge in Egypt and do not build
From Egypt again—your smiling radiance.
Away from Egypt after your radiant light.

Quench the eyes with the radiance you pour forth,
Quench the eyes with what overflows from joy,
For you were veiled, and the eyes burn with thirst.
For you were veiled while the eyes had sorrows.

Two years passed in absence, and for one who
Two years have passed in absence, and for those
Yearns, the shortest hour is years.
Who long, an hour is longer than years.

Today there is no exaggeration in a man's words:
Is this not the day for drowning in the word of a speaker
Al-Muqattam was shaken, and the Pyramids grew drunk,
Whose utterances shook and awakened the pyramids?
وَجَرَىand flowed بِوَادِيthrough the valley of النِّيلِthe Nile ذَوْبُthe melt of عَقِيقِهِits agate

And through the Nile valley flowed its molten agate,
The melting of its carnelian ran in the Nile valley
Watering the groves—and the drink was wine.
Quenching the swooning and the wine continues to pour.

This is the reward of the devoted, and this is how
This is the reward of the loyalists, and thus
Nations praise their heroes.
The nations praise their heroes.

What of the gratitude bestowed upon you
What of gratitude you command
By Egypt's sons, who are generous indeed?
From Egypt's sons, and they are generous?
مُنِجِيsavior of البِلادَthe country وَمُسْتَعِيدُand restorer of حُقُوقِهَاits rights

The savior of the country and restorer of its rights—
Saviour of the country and restorer of its rights
How much of his due can reverence repay?
What fulfills its right to magnify you?
حَسْبَenough for المَفَاخِرِthe glories أَنْthat غَدَوْتَyou have become مَلاذَهَاtheir refuge

For glories, it is enough that you have become their refuge,
It suffices for pride that you have become its refuge
And their hoped-for sanctuary when they are wronged.
And its hoped-for protector when distressed.
للهِGod be praised! مَاhow أَمْضَاكَresolute you are فِيin الشَّأْنِthe task الَّذِيwhich
نَدَبَتْكَcalled you مِصْرُEgypt لَهُto it وَأَنْتَand you are هُمَامُgallant
God, how resolute you are in the task which
My God, how firm you were in the matter
Egypt called you to undertake, you gallant man!
To which Egypt summoned you while you are resolute.
أَحْسَنْتَyou excelled مَاwhat تَهْوَىyou love وَأَحْسَنَand excelled رُفْقَةٌa company of companions
مَاnot مِنْهُمُوamong them إِلاَّexcept فَتىًa young man مِقْدَامُbold
You excelled in what you love, and your companions excelled;
You have done what you love, and a company has done good
Not one of them but a bold young man.
Among them only a bold youth.
أَعْمَلْتُمُyou all put to work العَزْمَresolve الصَّحِيحَsound فَلَمْso not يَكُنْbe
لِيَرُوعَكُمْto frighten you all فِيin غِيلِهِits thicket الضِّرْغَامُthe lion
You all put sound resolve to work, so never could
You made the right decision so the darkness
The lion in its thicket strike terror in you.
Would not terrify you in its turmoil.
وَالرَّأْيَand judgment قَدْindeed أَثْبَتُّمُوهُyou all proved it بَالِغٌattains
فِيin النًّجْحِsuccess مَاwhat لاnot يَبْلُغُattains الصَّمْصَامُthe keen sword
And you have proved that judgment can attain
You have proven an opinion leading
In achieving success what the keen sword cannot attain.
To success beyond what the deaf can attain.
فبِنبْلِso through the nobility of هَذَاthis الرَّأْيِjudgment وَهْوَand it is مُوَفَّقwell guided

So through the nobility of this judgment, well guided as it is,
By the nobility of this well-guided opinion
And through the merit of that resolve, mighty as it is,
And the favor of that mighty determination,
سَتَعُودُwill return مِصْرُEgypt إِلَىto سَنِيِّlofty مَقَامِهَاher station

Egypt will return to her lofty station,
Egypt will return to the position of its forefathers,
And hers is Suha—or a station higher still.
And glory to it, or above that, a position.
