فضْلُbounty المَلكِof the king الصَّالِحِrighteous المُفْتَدَىfor whom one would sacrifice oneself
فضْلُ المَلكِ الصَّالِحِ المُفْتَدَى
كَفىhas fulfilled مُنىthe wishes الشَّرْقِof the East وَمَاand does not يَكتفِيrest content
كَفى مُنى الشَّرْقِ وَمَا يَكتفِي
The bounty of the righteous king, for whom one would give one’s life,
The grace of the virtuous free king
has fulfilled the East’s wishes, yet does not rest content.
Suffices the East and all it can suffice
وَلَيْسَand is not أَدْنىthe least الفضْلِof bounty إِنْعَامُهُhis bestowal
وَلَيْسَ أَدْنى الفضْلِ إِنْعَامُهُ
بِالرِّتْبَةِwith the rank العُلْياhighest عَلَىupon يُوسَفِYusuf
بِالرِّتْبَةِ العُلْيا عَلَى يُوسَفِ
Nor is the least of his bounty his bestowal
Not the least grace is his conferral
of the highest rank upon Yusuf,
Of the highest rank upon Joseph
عَلَىupon الفَتىthe young man المَعْدُودِreckoned فِيin جِيلِهِhis generation
عَلَى الفَتى المَعْدُودِ فِي جِيلِهِ
مِنof الطِّرازِthe kind الأَمْثلِfinest الأَحْصَفِmost judicious
مِن الطِّرازِ الأَمْثلِ الأَحْصَفِ
upon the young man reckoned, in his generation,
Upon the youth counted among his peers
to be of the finest, most judicious kind.
As the most exemplary and gifted
أوْلاَهhe granted him مَوْلاُهhis lord يدَاًa favor توَّجَتْcrowned
أوْلاَه مَوْلاُه يدَاً توَّجَتْ
نَدىbounty سَخِيٍّof a generous man بِهُدَىwith the guidance مُنْصِفِof a just man
نَدى سَخِيٍّ بِهُدَى مُنْصِفِ
His lord granted him a favor that crowned
His Master endowed him with a hand that was crowned
a generous man’s bounty with a just man’s guidance.
With the dew of a generous and fair one
فَاهْنَأْso rejoice بِهَاin it يَاO خَيْرَbest أَهْلٍof those worthy لَهَاof it
فَاهْنَأْ بِهَا يَا خَيْرَ أَهْلٍ لَهَا
نِعْمَexcellent is جَزَاءُthe reward الأَلْمَعِيِّof the keen-witted man الوَفِيloyal
نِعْمَ جَزَاءُ الأَلْمَعِيِّ الوَفِي
So rejoice in it, O most worthy of it!
So congratulations, O best suited for it
Excellent is the reward of the keen-witted, loyal man!
What a good reward for the brilliant and loyal one
