بَدَتْshe emerged مِنْfrom نقِيِّclear المَاءِthe water يَنْضَحُdrips جِسْمُهَاher body
بَدَتْ مِنْ نقِيِّ المَاءِ يَنْضَحُ جِسْمُهَا
نِطافاًdroplets يُؤجِّجْنَthey inflame القُلُوبَthe hearts وُلُوعَاwith passion
نِطافاً يُؤجِّجْنَ القُلُوبَ وُلُوعَا
She emerged from the clear water, her body dripping
Her body appeared, dripping from pure water
Droplets that set hearts ablaze with passion.
Charms kindling hearts already aflame with yearning.
فَكُنَّso they were عَليْهِupon it مِنْfrom سُرُورٍjoy لآلِئاًpearls
فَكُنَّ عَليْهِ مِنْ سُرُورٍ لآلِئاً
رِطَاباًmoist فَلَمَّاthen when سِلْنthey flowed سِلْنَthey flowed دُمَوعَاtears
رِطَاباً فَلَمَّا سِلْن سِلْنَ دُمَوعَا
So upon it they were pearls of joy,
Let it be for you a necklace of joyous pearls
Moist—then, when they flowed, they flowed as tears.
Sliding, then sliding away, into tears.
