أَقْبَلَتْshe came حُرَّةُnoble الشَّمَائِلِcharacter traits تَجْلُوrevealing
أَقْبَلَتْ حُرَّةُ الشَّمَائِلِ تَجْلُو
طَالِعَrising star اليُمْنِgood fortune فِيin سَمَاءِsky البَيَانِeloquence
طَالِعَ اليُمْنِ فِي سَمَاءِ البَيَانِ
She came, noble in character, revealing
The radiance of perfections has appeared, elucidating
The rising star of good fortune in the sky of eloquence.
The auspicious signs in the heaven of eloquence,
فَارْقَبُواso await, all of you يَاO أُولِيpossessors of النُّهَىreason بَلَجَdawn
فَارْقَبُوا يَا أُولِي النُّهَى بَلَجَ
الوَحْيِinspiration وَعَهْداًand an era مُجَدَّداًrenewed فِيin المَعَانِيmeanings
الوَحْيِ وَعَهْداً مُجَدَّداً فِي المَعَانِي
So await, O people of reason, the dawn
So be observant, O people of piety, for there emerges
Of inspiration, and a renewed era of meaning,
The revelation, and a covenant renewed in meanings,
وَأَفَانِينَand forms of artistry غَيْرَnot مُسْبُوقَةٍpreceded فِيin
وَأَفَانِينَ غَيْرَ مُسْبُوقَةٍ فِي
الشِّعْرِpoetry وَالنَّثْرِand prose مِنْfrom أَدِيبِman of letters الزَّمَانِthe age
الشِّعْرِ وَالنَّثْرِ مِنْ أَدِيبِ الزَّمَانِ
And unprecedented forms of artistry in
And unprecedented subtleties in
Poetry and prose, from the man of letters of the age.
Poetry and prose from the erudite of the age,
مَسْكَنٌa home يَجْمَعُgathers المَسَرَّاتِjoys فِيهِin it
مَسْكَنٌ يَجْمَعُ المَسَرَّاتِ فِيهِ
سَكَنٌa source of solace تَنْتَهِيfind fulfillment إِلَيْهِin it الأَمَانِيwishes
سَكَنٌ تَنْتَهِي إِلَيْهِ الأَمَانِي
A home that gathers joys; within it is
An abode that brings joy therein,
A companion in whom wishes find fulfillment,
A dwelling where hopes come to rest,
مِنْamong ذَواتِwomen possessing الخِصَالِvirtues لاno عَيْبَflaw فِيهَاin her
مِنْ ذَواتِ الخِصَالِ لا عَيْبَ فِيهَا
وَذَوَاتِand women possessing الكَمَالِperfection بَيْنَamong الحَسَانِbeautiful women
وَذَوَاتِ الكَمَالِ بَيْنَ الحَسَانِ
One of the virtuous women, with no flaw in her,
Of impeccable nature and consummate grace amidst beauty.
And of those endowed with perfection among the beautiful.
That is the advent of the sacred law, and the course
ذَلِكُمْthat (addressing you all) مَبْعَثُsource الفَرِيضِverse (likely intended: القريض) وَمَجْرَىand channel
ذَلِكُمْ مَبْعَثُ الفَرِيضِ وَمَجْرَى
أَعْذَبِsweetest القَوْلِspeech مِنْfrom فِيُوضِoutpourings الجَنَانِthe heart
أَعْذَبِ القَوْلِ مِنْ فِيُوضِ الجَنَانِ
That is the source of verse and the channel
Of the sweetest utterance from the outpouring of gardens.
Of the sweetest speech from the heart's outpourings.
O bosom friend of the Friend, may your life be joyous
يَاO خَلِيلَKhalil الخَلِيلِal-Khalil يُهْنِئُكَdelights you العَيْشُlife
يَا خَلِيلَ الخَلِيلِ يُهْنِئُكَ العَيْشُ
طَرَايفَwonders الأَنْوَارِlights وَالأَلْوَانِand colors
طَرَايفَ الأَنْوَارِ وَالأَلْوَانِ
O Khalil al-Khalil, may life delight you with
With the music of light and the hues of meaning.
Wonders of light and color.
May God bless the two brides
بَارَكَmay bless اللهُGod فِيin العَرُوسَيْنِthe bride and groom
بَارَكَ اللهُ فِي العَرُوسَيْنِ
وَلْيَسْتَقْبِلاand may they both welcome عَهْدَan era غِبْطَةٍjoy وَأَمَانِand safety
وَلْيَسْتَقْبِلا عَهْدَ غِبْطَةٍ وَأَمَانِ
May God bless the bride and groom,
And may they have an era of bliss and security ahead,
And may they both welcome an era of joy and safety,
And may they attain from each joy and glory
وَلِيَصِيبَاand may they both attain مِنْof كُلِّevery سَعْدٍgood fortune وَمَجْدٍand glory
وَلِيَصِيبَا مِنْ كُلِّ سَعْدٍ وَمَجْدٍ
مَاwhatever إِلَيْهِfor it قَلْبَاهُمَاtheir two hearts يَصْبُوَانِboth yearn
مَا إِلَيْهِ قَلْبَاهُمَا يَصْبُوَانِ
And may they both attain, of every good fortune and glory,
All that their hearts desire.
Whatever their two hearts yearn for.
