زَوْجُ سليمٍ إِلَيْهِ آبَت

زَوْجُ سليمٍ إِلَيْهِ آبَت

وَفِيَّة طَلْقَةَ المُحَيَّا

وَفِيَّة طَلْقَةَ المُحَيَّا

Salim's wife has returned to him,

The spouse of Suleiman has passed away to him

Faithful, with a cheerful countenance,

And the exemplar of Muhayya's separation

تَارِكَةً فِي الحَيَاةِ ذِكْراً

تَارِكَةً فِي الحَيَاةِ ذِكْراً

مَا دَامَ فِيهَا الوَفَاءُ حيا

مَا دَامَ فِيهَا الوَفَاءُ حيا

Leaving a remembrance in life,

Leaving behind in life a memory

For as long as faithfulness lives within it.

That endures as long as loyalty lives

للهِ قَبْرٌ أَوَتْ إِلَيْهِ

للهِ قَبْرٌ أَوَتْ إِلَيْهِ

وَفَارَقَتْ أَوْجَهَا السَّنِيَّا

وَفَارَقَتْ أَوْجَهَا السَّنِيَّا

How wondrous the grave in which she sought refuge,

To Allah is a grave she came to

And left her radiant summit.

And left behind her effulgent visage

كَانَ لَهُ قَبْلَهَا مُقَامٌ

كَانَ لَهُ قَبْلَهَا مُقَامٌ

غَدَا بِأَضْعافِهِ حرِيَّا

غَدَا بِأَضْعافِهِ حرِيَّا

It held an honored rank before her;

He had before her a lofty status

It has become worthy of many times that honor.

That overnight was folded over in grief

أَلا تَرَى الهَامَ خَاشِعَاتٍ

أَلا تَرَى الهَامَ خَاشِعَاتٍ

حِيَالَهُ وَالعُلَى جُثِيَّا

حِيَالَهُ وَالعُلَى جُثِيَّا

Do you not see the heads bowed in reverence

Do you not see the doves humbled

Before it, and glory on its knees?

Before him, and the heights bowed down

مَنْ زَاره من مُؤَرِّخِيهِ

مَنْ زَاره من مُؤَرِّخِيهِ

رأَى هُنَا مَوْضِعَ الثُّرَيَّا

رأَى هُنَا مَوْضِعَ الثُّرَيَّا

Whoever among its chroniclers visits it

Whoever of his chroniclers visits him

Sees here the place of the Pleiades.

Sees here the place of wealth
