They competed around you in disseminating
through all that townsman and nomad do best.
All the willing settled and nomad can propagate.
فَلاَfor no مَلِيكٌking نَالَgained مِنْهُof it الَّذِيwhat
فَلاَ مَلِيكٌ نَالَ مِنْهُ الَّذِي
نِلْتَyou gained وَلاَnor غَازٍa conqueror كَمَاas عُدْتَyou returned عَادْreturned
نِلْتَ وَلاَ غَازٍ كَمَا عُدْتَ عَادْ
For no king has won of it what
So no ruler gained what you attained
you won, nor has a conqueror returned as you returned.
Nor conqueror like you returned.
ذَلِكَthat فَوْزٌa triumph بَاهِرٌdazzling لاَnot يَفِيdoes justice

بِحَقِّهto its due تَسْطِيرُهُwriting it down بِالمِدَادْin ink
بِحَقِّه تَسْطِيرُهُ بِالمِدَادْ
That is a dazzling triumph that cannot be
That is resplendent success, for which
given its due by recording it in ink.
Inscription by the pen does not do justice.

What your two confederations accomplished.

Midhat—what a fine young man he is,
I will not praise the like of the youth
spoken of with praise in every gathering.
Whose praise is mentioned in every club.

مُنْفَرِدٌ فِي المَجْدِ أَيُّ انْفِرَادْ
A chieftain among chieftains, yet he is
A heavy burden, but singular
unequaled in glory—utterly unequaled.
In glory, what peerless distinction!

As for Ibn Sultan, enough for the heights is
As for the son of the Sultan, the heights
his newly won glory, which has heightened the prestige of the old.
Suffice from him, increasing the luster of pedigree.

The pride of the country's youth, when they boast
The pride of the country’s youth, if they pride
of one of their own, distinguished, noble, generous.
Themselves on a steed from among them, swift and generous.

Three in a pattern, rarely through the ages

Did Egypt have the like of them as gifts.
