O voice defending the finest homeland,

    Ransomed with lives and wealth.

How splendid is Mustafa's spirit, poised aloft,

Manifesting itself from the lofty place,

Inspiring what is deemed to serve Egypt's glory:

Betterment in her present state and her future.

As though the old companion had become present,

Their two eras walking together without a break.

It is no strange thing—and truth is what you hope for—

That truthfulness should be seen as a safeguard for speech.

Readers come away from its clear watering place,

And within them are the qualities of heroes.

And in it appeared, as in a mirror of truth,

Egypt, endowed with honor and reverence.

And the words come in accord with the meanings,

In an arrangement that puts a string of pearls to shame.

And the young see, in its bright paths,

The ways to greatness and independence.

And men find the loftiest arena,

Where the minds of men race one another.
