يَاO أَمِيراًa prince أَهْدَىbestowed إِلَىupon لُغَةِthe language الضَّادِthe letter ḍād
يَا أَمِيراً أَهْدَى إِلَى لُغَةِ الضَّادِ
كُنُوزاًtreasures مِنْfrom عِلْمِهِhis knowledge وَبَيَانِهْand his eloquence
كُنُوزاً مِنْ عِلْمِهِ وَبَيَانِهْ
O prince who bestowed upon the language of ḍād
O Prince who brought to the language of Dhad
treasures from his knowledge and eloquence,
Treasures of his knowledge and eloquence
ذَلِكَthat المِعْجَمُthe dictionary الزِّرَاعِيُّagricultural قَدْindeed كَانَwas
ذَلِكَ المِعْجَمُ الزِّرَاعِيُّ قَدْ كَانَ
رَجَاءًa hope حَقَّقَتْهُfulfilled it فِيin أَوَانِهْits due time
رَجَاءً حَقَّقَتْهُ فِي أَوَانِهْ

a hope you fulfilled in its due time.

عَمَلٌa work لاnot يُكَادُalmost يَقْضِيهُaccomplishes it إِلاَّexcept
عَمَلٌ لا يُكَادُ يَقْضِيهُ إِلاَّ
مَجْمَعٌan academy بِالكَثِيرِwith many مِنْof أَعْوَانِهْits assistants
مَجْمَعٌ بِالكَثِيرِ مِنْ أَعْوَانِهْ
A work that could scarcely be accomplished except by
A work hardly accomplished except
an academy with many of its assistants.
By an academy with its many helpers
دُمْتَmay you remain ذُخْراًa treasure لَهُfor him مَآثِرُهُhis noble deeds فِيin
دُمْتَ ذُخْراً لَهُ مَآثِرُهُ فِي
نَفْعِbenefiting هَذَاthis الحِمَىthe homeland وَفِيand in رَفْعِraising شَأْنِهْits standing
نَفْعِ هَذَا الحِمَى وَفِي رَفْعِ شَأْنِهْ
May you remain a treasure whose noble deeds lie in
You remain a treasure for it, your feats in
benefiting this homeland and raising its standing.
