يا صفوة الأحباب طيبوا ولتدم

أفراحكم ببنيكم الأنجاب

O choicest of loved ones, rejoice, and may there endure

Your joys in your noble children.

أرخصتم ما عز في تهذيبهم

ولكل تفدية جميل ثواب

You spent freely what was precious on their upbringing,

And for every sacrifice there is a fine reward.

أوتوا من الشارات أحسن زينة

وأحب منها زينة الألباب

They were adorned with the finest marks of distinction,

And dearer than these is the adornment of minds.

وإلى ضروب الظرف في أخلاقهم

جمعوا صنوف اللطف في الآداب

And to the varied graces in their character,

They have added many forms of courtesy in their manners.

فتياتكم في الغانيات فرائد

وشبابكم لله أي شباب

Your young women are peerless jewels among beauties,

And your young men—by God, what young men!

هذا قران قد شهدت جلاله

فرأيت فيه مفاخر الأحساب

This is a union whose grandeur I have witnessed,

And in it I saw the glories of ancestral honor.

ما أجمل المتعاهدين على الهوى

متكافئين كريمي الأنساب

How beautiful are the two pledged to one another in love,

Well matched, both of noble lineage.

فليغنما نعم الحياة ويبلغا

أسنى المنى موفورة الأسباب

So may they both reap life's blessings and attain

Their loftiest aspirations, with ample means to fulfill them.
