مولاي جاري في الندى طبعه

وعله جار على ضعفي

وعله جار على ضعفي

My lord has matched his nature in generosity,

My Master, his nature overflows with bounty,

and perhaps he has been unjust to my frailty.

While I, alas, am overwhelmed by my own weakness.

أصبحت لا أقوى على عد ما

أصبحت لا أقوى على عد ما

أسدى فهل أقوى على الوصف

أسدى فهل أقوى على الوصف

I have become unable to count what

I've not the strength to tell of all he's granted me -

he has bestowed; can I, then, describe it?

So how could I ever hope my thanks to express?

ما أنا ما شأني ولكنه

ما أنا ما شأني ولكنه

شاء وهذا للعلى يكفي

شاء وهذا للعلى يكفي

What am I? What is my worth? Yet he

What am I, what are my affairs, compared to Him

willed it—and this suffices for greatness.

Who wills all things for reasons no mind can assess?

أين بيان وهو لي طيعٌ

أين بيان وهو لي طيعٌ

وأين ذاك الصوت يا لهفي

وأين ذاك الصوت يا لهفي

Where is eloquence, though it is at my command?

Where is the eloquence, though it obeys my whim,

And where is that voice? Oh, my sorrow!

Where is the voice, O heart, that might your longing impress?

ليحيى فاروق ومن مثله

ليحيى فاروق ومن مثله

يضاعف الإحسان باللطف

يضاعف الإحسان باللطف

Long live Farouk, and whoever, like him,

May he live long, Farouq, who makes of goodness twice -

multiplies kindness with gentleness.

With gracious charm he adds, redoubling each kindness.

قد بلغ الآداب أسمى الذرى

قد بلغ الآداب أسمى الذرى

بفضل ما يولي من العطف

بفضل ما يولي من العطف

He has brought literature to the loftiest summits,

Most high in manners, by the favor he supplies,

thanks to the kindness he bestows.

His overflowing grace lifts virtue's star the highest!
