مُحَمَّدُMuhammad أَنيI عَنْكَabout you أَسْأَلُI ask دَائِبَاceaselessly
وَمَاyet not أَنْتَyou يَوْماًa day وَاحِداًsingle سَائلٌasking عَنِّيabout me
Muhammad, I ask after you ceaselessly,
Muhammad, I constantly ask about you
Yet not a single day do you ask after me.
Yet you have never once asked after me
وَلَمْand did not أَدْرِI know ذَنْباًa wrong إِلَيْكَagainst you اقْتَرَفْتُهُI committed it
فَقُلْso tell يَاO فَدَتْكَmay it ransom you النَّفْسُthe soul مَاذَاwhat جَرَىhappened مِنِّيfrom me
And I know of no wrong I have committed against you.
I know not what wrong I have done against you
So tell me—may my soul be your ransom—what have I done?
Tell me, oh soul's ransom, what have I done
